Merry Christmas!

24 Dec

Good people, SmS would like to wish you all an amazingly merry Christmas. Enjoy yourselves, be good and listen to Fairytale of New York at least eight times. Undoubtedly the greatest Xmas song there is.

SmS#68: Nabovarsel

9 Dec

Bergen based label Nabovarsel has been releasing some really exciting music in 2011. They have released tunes from the likes of Put Your Hands Up For Neo Tokyo, Advanced Language and the excellent Machine Birds. It really has been their year. Here’s another gem for the Nabovarsel roster, Burning God Little. BGL’s EP Notes On being Snowblind is out now and I’m hooked on it.

SmS#67: Advanced Language

6 Dec

This is the new cut from Bergen’s elegant electro five-piece Advanced Language. I’ve heard this about 9 times already today and it gets better with each listen. Good news then that the band are readying themselves to release their self-produced EP Samples in May 2012. They’re giving Party On The Moon away for free aswell, an early christmas present maybe?!

SmS#66: Bloody Beach – Gonzo Blues

3 Dec

If you haven’t heard this yet, stop what you’re doing and pay attention! Bloody Beach have well and truly arrived and they’re not going to sit around quietly waiting for their turn, judging by their new video.

Bergen’s best live band have already released their 7″ double A-side (get it here!) and we’re excitedly expecting their debut album around the spring of 2012. Can’t bloody wait.

SmS#65: Casiokids – Det Haster

31 Oct

Once again, Casiokids and super talented Norwegian film-maker Kristoffer Borgli have joined forces. This time it’s for the video for the bands new single Det Haster! More bizarre stuffed toy antics ensue, to wonderful effect.

The single is out now and is included on Casiokids excellent new LP Aabenbaringen Over Aaskammen, which is also out now.

SmS#64: Movember

31 Oct

Yep, I’m going for it. I’ve decided to take part in this years Movember movement. It is an organisation that calls upon men to grow mustaches in November to raise money for prostate cancer charities. With that in mind, there was no question. A ‘tache it shall be!

Be so kind and sponsor me (HERE) and I will be eternally grateful. I’ll post the final picture on the th 1st of December. It should be quite a sight!

So in celebration of all things moustache, here is a tune that goes hand in hand with a young upstart trying his hand at growing facial hair. Ah, back when Kings Of Leon were good!
