SmS#63: Peaks Of The Week Pt.18

28 Oct

Here’s a quick round-up of what has been making Seven Mountain Service tick over the last week. It’s been a while, but luckily the quality of the tunes hasn’t been diluted. So do enjoy yourselves!

Here’s some new talent for you. King Krule (has also released material under the aliases: DJ JDSports and Zoo Kid) is a 17-year old Londoner with influences such as Elvis, Gene Vincent and Tom Waits, making some pretty exciting waves in the new musical waters. His deep voice is quite a surprise when you see him in the video, but one thing is certain: this boy’s got talent. SmS can’t wait for his new EP, which drops on the 7th of November!

King Krule – Out Getting Ribs

Souldrop are a dance production trio from this fair city of Bergen. For their new single the boys have enlisted the vocals of Chris Holm (The Alexandria Quartet, Young Dreams and solo) to devastating effect. Check out the new  brilliantly foul-mouthed tune below!

This is San Fransisco psych-rock four-piece Thee Oh Sees. I caught wind of this on BBC 6 Music a few weeks back but couldn’t find it anywhere. Not to worry, they’re releasing it along with the rest of their new LP Carrion Crawler/The Dream on the 15th of November. This tune sees the band keeping the spirit of The Cramps well and truly alive. I had to post the live version (at KEXP), to show how amazing it is played live! Get the MP3 here.

Believe it or not, this is a B-side. It didn’t even make the album! It doesn’t quite fit with the rest of Suck It And See, but that doesn’t make it any less spectacular. This track has Arctic Monkeys sound like they sounded a few years back whilst showing off their undoubted love for Queens Of The Stone Age (Josh Homme helped record the bands Humbug LP). Who said the B-side was a thing of the past!
