SmS#31: Peaks Of The Week Pt.6

15 Jun

It’s an American extravaganza in this weeks POTW#6! With a little bit of a reacently honoured English hero thrown in at the end! Enjoy………….

First up is the long-awaited return from The Rapture. The New York City indie/dance trio are back with How Deep Is Your Love?, a signal towards a return to form and the heady heights of their amazing 2003 LP Echoes. Expect the band’s new album in September. It’s unfortunately not a Bee-Gees cover!

Street Joy is one of the highlights taken from the new White Denim LP. The genre mashing Austin, Tx four-piece are back with the new album ‘D’  this week, which is accompanied by this fantastic single and video.

Number three comes from San Francisco’s dream-pop quartet Papercuts. This reverb heavy, hazy brilliance is taken from one of this years most understated and underrated albums Fading Parade. The lucky people of Oslo get the chance to see the band live at Blå on the 23rd of this month.

Finally, it’s worth a mention that Roxy Music legend Bryan Ferry received a CBE in the Queen’s birthday honours list this week. Well deserved, so here’s one of the coolest songs I’ve ever heard!

Congrats Mr. Ferry!
